Cabot Trail

Only fifteen minutes from our locations, the Cabot Trail is one of the most spectacular scenic drives in the world. The Cabot Trail winds around the rocky splendor of Cape Breton's northern shore, ascending to the incredible plateaus of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. From family walks to challenging hikes, come and experience the stunning mountain and coastal landscapes. This makes for great day trips.

Fishing Trips

Cast into the famous salmon pools of the Margaree River. Contact the Margaree VIsitor Information Centre at Margaree Forks for fishing guides, licenses and map of its famous pools.

Whale Watching

Set sail for an ocean adventure to discover dolphins, seals, Pilot and Minke whales in the intimate beauty of their natural environment. Enjoy the breathtaking views of our spectacular, rugged coastline. Bird watchers may see Bald Eagles, Gannets, commorands, and a wealth of sea birds.

Walking/Hiking Trails

Choose from guided family walks or the adventurous trails, experience the rugged splendor and breathtaking vistas of Cape Breton. Most trails are level, however, a few climb the mountains to panoramic lookoffs. Our knowledgeable staff can direct you to trails of your level of adventure and supply maps.


Cape Breton has a wealth of museums depicting our heritage and culture, including the famous Alexander Graham Bell Museum, the Miners Museum , the Fortress of Louisbourg, the Highland Village in Iona, our staff can inform and direct you to the museums of interest. There are a number of local museums such as the Inverness Miner's Museum, MacDonald Heritage House and many more in our neighbouring local communities.

Dances and Festivals

Rich in Scottish music and culture, The Ceilidh Trail, Gaelic for "gathering" or "celebration", is home to many of Canada's top musicians such as Natalie MacMaster and the Rankin Family. Outdoor concerts, nightly square dances, and ceilidhs, come and experience the finest of Highland music and dance. Somewhere in the county a dance, festival or celebration is taking place so ask our staff for information on the summer festivals and activities.
